Madhuri Dixit
Madhuri is an Indian actress, who gained recognition for her performance in Hum Aapke Hain Koun as well as Beta Saajan. She began her acting career in 1990s. Her character as Anil Kapoor in Tezaab became incredibly acclaimed. The next film she acted in, Dil, Aamir Khan appeared with her. In Mumbai where she grew up, she was in a family of middle-class parents. From a very early age, she started to dance. While she was young when she began to act, she faced difficulties as most of her films were flops. Her breakthrough came when she finally had success and she went on to become one of the top actresses in the Indian film business. Following her wedding her husband died, she took time out from acting, before returning. In recent times, she was the main character in Gulaab Gang about Indian women. Dixit has been nominated 15 times to win Filmfare Awards. She won eight of the awards. Dixit was also awarded her Padma Shri the fourth highest civilian distinction in India. She is known for her work in the field of social service as well.
