Ky-Mani Marley was an established Reggae Singer for many years. Born in Falmouth Jamaica, he was among the richest and most successful. He starred in the cult classic film Shottas opposite another singer Wyclef Jean. Ky-Mani joined Shang Records and recorded his 1996 debut album With Father Like Son. This was followed by a number of singles, including Dear Dad, which topped British Reggae Charts. Who The Cap fit (remix), and Sensimelia. These all contributed to Ky-Mani's reputation as a new reggae musician. Ky-Mani collaborated with Praswell from Fugees to cover Electric Avenue by Eddy Grant. The song was a huge hit in 1997. Marley performed in Midem (international music festival) in the year it was held in Miami for the first time. Marley did a live performance in the Cameo Theatre, which was broadcast by Caribbean News Agency across 36 countries. Marley's name became the topic of a bidding war. In 1997, the singer signed a contract with Gee Street/V2 Records, and also completed the project in conjunction with P.M. Dawn who sang Gotta Movin"Up" in the hit song.
