Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson - born Jacqueline Luesby to Chris Watson and Jacqueline Luesby, two British lawyers, was born on the 8th of July, 1989 in Paris. As a young girl, she moved from London to Oxfordshire where she attended the Dragon School. From the age of six Emma knew that she wanted to be an actress and for many years she trained at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theatre school where she studied singing dancing and acting. Her performances had been in several Stagecoach and school productions when she turned ten. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone The 2001 film adaption of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was filmed in 1999. Emma was discovered by agents via her Oxford teacher. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been picked for these parts. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's debut on the screen in cinema. This film was 2001's highest earning film, smashing records during the opening day as well as the first weekend. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain and the Daily Telegraph in America, widely read, called her performance commendable. Emma received five nominations for her exceptional performance. Later, she won the Young Artist Award in Leading Young Actress of the Film.
